She Sleeps

She sleeps.
Rustling leaves, heaving hills
one eye open.

Breathe.

The great weight of earth spread
furrowed fields ploughed and sown
stretch the veil between here and home.

Seeds will grow and flowers bloom
Tree boughs sag low with glistening fruit
adorned like stars across the sky
connecting all that lives and dies.

All this to come, in summer deep.
But for now, she sleeps.

I’ve finally finished the full print to go with my poem!

It’s been a long time in the making, this one. I’ve put a lot of thought into it.

I wanted to acknowledge the celestial magic and wonder of creation. As a mother I realise how we not only grow our baby, but we walk though fire to bring them home.

And mother nature, is mother to all.

This A3 print is black and purple on thick handmade paper. The thickness and texture me a this isn’t a clear cut solid print. The beautiful, mottled texture reminds me of particles and frequency and TV static, like we are tuning in to the image. There are tiny golden star details that are different in every print.

Very pleased with this one. It’s probably my favourite yet.
